Evocation Album

Evocation is my solo piano album, released in 2002. It's a collection that brings together jazz, American folk, Turkish, Spanish, Jewish, and classical music traditions. The album features an adaptation of Indonesian gamelan music for solo piano—a piece called "American Gamelan," where blues meets authentic gamelan scales. The opening track, "How Many Eyes," reflects my spiritual approach to music, exploring the unique perspective each person has on their inner self and the world. "Sunrise on the Blue Nowhere" recalls a transpacific sailing voyage, while "Taxim" draws from Turkish musical traditions. Two Indian raga compositions are also featured, and I learned to play sitar to fully understand their essence. The album ranges from the lyrical and haunting "Soon Enough" to the explosive, rhythmic energy of "Spain." It closes with "Shekinah," a composition that blends Jewish themes with African-inspired rhythm. The album was released on April 9, 2002, on the Mangoid label, features solo piano, has a total length of 57 minutes, and has a UPC of 783707507125. The full track list includes: 1. How Many Eyes, 2.
